Established in 1997 with a gift from Claus M. Halle, the Halle Institute for Global Learning is Emory University's premier venue for visits by heads of state, distinguished policymakers, and influential public intellectuals from around the world. The Halle Institute’s programs strengthen faculty distinction, prepare engaged scholars, and foster greater involvement from local, national, and international communities.
The Halle Study Trip Program brings Emory faculty and students to Germany and the European Union through generous support from The Halle Foundation. Dozens of faculty and graduate students have participated in Halle Study Trips to India, China, Jordan, Korea, and Turkey in recent years.
The Halle Research Program was launched in 2005 to sponsor faculty-led expert meetings and conferences, and supports several special projects and initiatives including Cartooning for Peace and Health and the Emory-Nanjing Visiting Scholars Program. Hundreds of scholars from around the world and thousands of community members have participated in the Halle Institute’s various programs.
